Sylvia Plath’s novel The Bell Jar is a much-analysed and much-quoted cult classic of the 20th century. In part, the story, inspired by her own life, exposes with brutal honesty the stages of becoming a woman. Yet, it is also a rendering of the transitional period from adolescence to adulthood that is filled with insecurity, an expression of inner fears and a search for self-identity of elemental power.

Krasznahorkai László regényében a fiktív keletnémet kisváros, Kana unalmas-békés hétköznapjait nyugtalanító események zavarják meg: a híres Bach-emlékműveken graffitik jelennek meg, egy elismert fizikaprofesszor rejtélyes módon eltűnik, száz év után ismét farkasok jelennek meg a türingiai erdőkben.

A könyv főhőse, Florian Herscht, a falmosó úgy dönt, levélben kér segítséget Angela Merkeltől. Gondolataiban a mindennapi élet apró eseményei összekeverednek a világvégéről szóló metafizikai kérdésekkel, és ahogy a városban működő neonáci csoport egyre radikálisabban lép fel, Herscht világa is kezd darabokra hullani.

The ‘musical tale’ was first presented in 1990 as an adaptation of Weber’s The Marksman, made by Robert Wilson, American theatre director and visual artist, and Tom Waits, singer-songwriter, composer.

Within the game, at least, control is a given. You have an impact on its world. Other people escape into it. Don’t say that’s not what you are doing too! Well, I see. According to the renowned director, János Mohácsi and his former students we can do so with the help of Jewish jokes and songs, documents from the 30’s and 40’s, and by reciting them – in pitch darkness.
